Johnell is studying criminal justice at URI. “I want to work with young teens, be a probation officer, try to prevent them from getting in trouble.”
He grew up in Hartford, CT, where he was terminated from high school. He then sued the school, and moved here to be with his father and youngest brother.
He finished his GED in Providence, and started his criminal justice degree. “It’s going to take a while, so I’m going to CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) classes in the meantime, to have something else to fall upon.”
In his spare time, he listens to music – his favorite artist is Mary J Blige – and reads books. “My favorite book is called True to the Game. It’s a gangster book about hustling and stuff like that.”
