Joe’s fame pops up at the most unlikely moments. “Recently I was in the emergency room at the hospital, I had a wound in my head, blood coming out, and the nurse leaned down and said ‘I loved you in Cabaret.’”

Chris is the manager of The 201, a bar formerly known as Remy’s, at 201 Westminster Street. It’s owned by Mama Teresa’s next door, where he also works. He’s here “almost seven days a week. I work pretty much day and night. What do I do for fun? I work.”
Carlos is part of the Downtown Improvement District (DID) safety team.
“We’re funded by local businesses to make this part of the city look better, and to keep it safe.” In the evenings when he’s not working, he likes to dance.

When he was a kid, Ernest used to hang out at Bankers Quarters on Westminster Street – otherwise known as the most luxurious Burger King in the country. While he was in high school, his mom moved him down to Atlanta, GA, which is where his troubles began.
Vellachi came here to study from Bangalore in southern India. “My options were the UK and US. I chose here because culturally there’s more exposure to television and movies from the US in India.”

Mike is looking for a job in advertising. He graduated in May from Johnson and Wales, and is working right now as a substitute high-school teacher.
Daniel works for Centrex Distributors, delivering drinks to Eno, Tazza and The 201: “Beer, wine, liquor, water, Red Bull, you name it.”
Russ works for Cornish Properties, who own many of the buildings on Westminster Street, between Eddy and Union Streets, so although he’s walking down the street, “I’m working right now.”
